This is just a quickie...
I AM 500 DAYS SOBER TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
500 days baby. 500 days.
Might celebrate by going to a nice deli and getting myself some special cheese and bread for lunch. Fresh bread, special cheese, fresh tomatoes and fresh basil. That'll do nicely...
Love, Mrs D xxx
Congrats on day 500! That is amazing!
ReplyDeleteYay 500!!! Although I am so newly sober (42 days! amazing!) I want to make the decision simple for others too. Like: Hey, put that poison down and be freeeeeeeeeeee! That does not work for you, no matter how you slice it. So stop trying to fit a round peg in a square hole and move along. Here's to your delicious treat, and many more glorious days! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think you we're being flip at all! I think it really is that simple, it's just THE WAY you take the drink away that matters. You are always honest and you speak from the heart. Don't stop doing that. Besides, I just thought Loisey was simply adding to what you had written. At least that's how I saw it.
ReplyDeleteAaaannnnndddddd....drum roll please!!! Congrats on 500 awesome sober days!!! You rock!

500 beautiful days :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice indeed!! Congrats to you!!
For me "never" seems to unattainable so I say just for today I am not gonna drink! Congrats on 500 days, one day at a time! Whoooo hoooo!
ReplyDelete500 Days!!!That is Flipping Fantastic!!! I'm still 8 days behind you following your lead. Love love love! Kary
ReplyDeleteWOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW That completely rocks Mrs D. And you're still here and generously sharing your journey and making a difference and that completely rocks too. The deli treat sounds sublime but I think you deserve something even bigger to mark 500 days. Or maybe the winning feeling of smashing success is enough?
ReplyDeleteOn ya!!

Congratulations Mrs D.
ReplyDeleteSaying 'never again' never worked for me. 'One day at a time' and 'Don't pick up the first drink, it's the first drink that makes you drunk' works for me.
I cannot say I will never drink again. I am confident that I will not drink today. My last drink was June 13th 2010. One day at a time.
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNot pulling you up at all Mrs D -- but I have a friend who tried to go 'cold turkey' and sober up alone as she had done so many times before. Not a good experience and she is lucky to be alive. Detox can be tricky.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 500 days!
Congrats! Today is my Day #2 - the second time around! I quit for 32 days on Feb 10th of last year and thought I could manage my drinking! Nope! Glad to be on the sober train and want it to be different this time! I am tired of being bloated, hopeless, and lethargic! Going to pick up GABA as recommended on a few other sites. I am grateful for your candor Mrs. D! Also a Dee from the US...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Mrs D and congratulations to all the people out there who are doing their best to say 'No' to the enemy drink! Apart from anything else, isn't it great to be so open and loving and supportive with a group of people who care so much!?!
ReplyDeleteI, like anonymous, is starting my sober journey again! I hope to make it further than ever this time!!,,,
ReplyDeleteYou are an inspiration! Congratulations!
Jen

ReplyDeletewell done mrs d -- im reading all your posts and im still a newby at this. for me the first week is fine, but lets see what week 2 holds for me....500 is an inspiration!!
ReplyDelete500 24's, as they call it in these parts (in the recovery world, that it is). That's so great, Mrs. D! You and your blog are always inspiring and you are right, it is complex but the decision is a simple one: yes or no.
