You are right on, and I just loved that Ted Talk - I've watched it a few times now over the past few months, and yep, that's exactly what wine did - numb that opportunity to be vulnerable! Who would want to do that? :-) Great posts here, Mrs. D!!!!<br />Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-921119446130836418.post-20448024375180274662013-05-22T04:26:57.259+12:002013-05-22T04:26:57.259+12:00So completely and totally true. i see that, younge...So completely and totally true. i see that, younger, i was unaware of how emotional i was and so only felt vulnerable after a few years of being mocked. Then, when i realized i was more sensitive than others, i wore a liquid shield to protect myself. Immediately after i shed that skin, i was emotionally vulnerable again, only now i've learned to protect myself with close friends and family who appreciate me for who i am. Thanks for the food for thought, Mrs D!Al K Hallhttp://alkhallanonymous.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-921119446130836418.post-21626019211144478932013-05-21T09:05:30.026+12:002013-05-21T09:05:30.026+12:00'Take the crunchy with the smooth'.

I did however just put a hold on one of her books at my local library, so I look forward to reading it and thank you for the reminder here. Vulnerability is a tough one to figure, but I think a lot of good has come from it in the last couple years for me. I...I really loved that particular Brene Brown talk. I have also heard an AA speaker say that initially sobriety is like walking around without your skin on with all of your nerve endings exposed and *vulnerable* to being touched and feeling those touches. Your shield is gone. Its a lot to get used to, a lot to figure out a new way to live and it takes courage! And you are doing it day by day, you are doing it! Bless your brave heart and I thank you for sharing your journey here so honestly with all of us, because everyone needs to know they aren't alone in their own journey.
